Take a deep breath! We all have a tendency to be a little nervous when playing
against other people. Before the game starts, take a few deep breaths,
wipe your hands dry and relax your body.
Clean your mouse and desktop surface! In games where moving the mouse quickly
and fast are important, like solitaire and word cubes, make sure the trackball
in the mouse is clean and free of hairs, and the surface the mouse rests on
is also clean. You'd hate to lose a game because your mouse didn't glide
smoothly on your desk.
Change the tournament you play in. If you've been playing in the 25-player games
and not winning, try the 10 or 5-player versions of the same game. Even though
you'll win less, you have less competition. And when you start winning lower
number of player games consistently, you can always to back to the higher
number of player games.
Practice, practice, practice! You'd be amazed at how much better you become
if you simply practice before playing. Use the free tournament games on
playwinner.com to hone your skills, and when you feel like you're "in a groove"
start playing for keeps!
Try a different time of the day to play! It just might be that you're at your
sharpest in the morning, so try to play then. If you know that you're a little
tired after dinner, then hold off playing until you feel you're sharp. Also,
you might find that the competition is greater at certain times of the day.
Try a different game! Most players are pretty good at two or more games, so
if you're playing solitaire and you're not in a good rhythm, try
playing one of your other favorites.
