Don't guess! You lose points for each wrong letter.

Since there's a hefty time bonus, the best strategy is fill out as many as you know off the top of your head, and then quit. Don't agonize over unfilled boxes, and definitely don't take the time to use research tools to look up answers - you lose more points in lost time than you'll gain in extra letters!
